We're focused on the "human dimension," which is critical to performance but often ignored. The human dimension encompasses all of human potential, experience, and action. It includes both observable behavior and the inner processes that shape behavior.

In business settings, the influence of the human dimension is observable in morale, adaptability, relationships, and personal and group effectiveness. Less obviously, the human dimension encompasses people's values, attitudes, and the basics of human nature that underlie the way people feel, think, and behave.

Most organizations remain primitive in their ability to manage the human dimension, compared to such disciplines as finance and marketing. Even enterprises regarded as highly skilled at managing and motivating their people have barely scratched the surface of what's possible.
